इको सैन एक प्रकार का आधुनिक शौचालय है जो उन इलाकों में बनाया जाता है जहां ज़ल स्तर काफी ज्यादा होता है। यह पूरी तरह से शुष्क शौचालय है, इसमें दो अलग-अलग गड्ढे होते हैं, एक गड्ढे में मल इकठ्ठा होता है तो दूसरे में गड्ढे में मूत्र एकत्र होता है। शौचालय के पैन को साफ़ करने के लिए राख का प्रयोग किया जाता है और उपयोग के बाद मल के ऊपर भी राख डाल दी जाती है। दो तीन महीने बाद जब गड्ढा भर जाता है तो मल को कम्पोस्ट खाद की तरह इस्तेमाल किया जाता है।
