This radio programme of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz talks about the funamental rights of disabled people. Disability is an important public health problem in India. In India, a majority of the disabled resides in rural areas where accessibility, availability, and utilization of rehabilitation services and its cost-effectiveness are the major issues to be considered. Research on disability burden, appropriate intervention strategies and their implementation to the present context in India is a big challenge.

This is a radio programme produced by Ek Duniya Ek Awaz. It speaks about the role and safety concern of a journalist in war, conflict and natural disaster. Journalism is a risk-involved profession. Journalists are ill-treated, kidnapped and murdered.

Suhasini Haidar, Strategic and Diplomatic Affairs Editor, The Hindu spoke about the challenges faced by a journalist in covering any war, riots or natural disaster. She said that they are now targeted directly by militant groups. Media organizations should provide training, equipments and all the safety measures to a journalist before sending them to war, riots or natural disaster affected areas. She also said that a journalist should be a human first, a journalist next and a citizen last.

About Red Cross Emblem ( Hindi)

It is a radio programme produced by Ek Duniya Ek Awaz. The present programme speaks about the various uses and significance of Red Cross emblem. It also describes the protective and indicative use of Red Cross Emblem.

Dr N K Singh, Director, Information and Development, Indian Red Cross Society, speaks about the origin of Red Cross, Red Crescent and Red Crystal. He also delineates the various awareness campaign to bar the misuse of the emblem. It speaks about the people who offer humanitarian service during war and conflict. They wear the Red Cross emblem during the service and their security should be of primary importance.

Impact of conflicts on women and children ( Hindi)

It is a radio programme produced by Ek Duniya Ek Awaz. The present programme talks about the sufferings of women who are affected by war and conflict.

Prof Anuradha M Chenoy, Dean, School of International Studies, said that according to WHO report, 80 per cent of the displaced from war are women and children. Women are the worst affected during war. According to the Geneva Convention’s additional protocol, it is important to follow the rule of war. Women are not endowed with fundamental rights at the time of war.

Dr Meenakshi Gopinath, Director, WISCOMP, spoke about the various impacts of war on women and agriculture. She also said that women play a vital role in peace building in the war zone areas.

This is a radio programme based on Geneva Convention. Geneva Convention is an international law which sets some rules for the countries involved in any kind of war or conflict. Geneva Convention provides rules for the safety and providing medical treatment to the injured soldiers prisioners of the war. Geneva Convention is also implemented in the violence within the country or internal conflicts. In this radio programme we interview Dr Srinivas Burra of South Asian University. Dr Burra delves into the significance of this conevntion and its relevance in present conflict situations. He also focused on India’s active role in its implementation and reservations on some its protocols. Talking about the implementation of Geneva Convention, he said that there is a to have effective institutional mechanism for its implementation.

In this episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz we are celebrating World Humanitarian Day.  World Humanitarian Day is observed on August 19 across the globe. This day marks the anniversary of the bombing of the UN Headquarters in Baghdad. In this episode we speak to two exemplary humanitarian workers, Mr. Sudhir Kumar Sahu and Colonel. Pillay. Mr. Sahu has been at the forefront of relief work when the cyclone Phailin hit the coast of Odisha. Colonel Pillay, a soldier in the Indian Army, put his own life at risk to save two young girls during combat in Manipur.

My Red Cross Story (Ep- 428) ( Hindi)

It is a special radio programme on the occasion of the World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day which is celebrated on 8th May. The theme for this year is “My Red Cross Story”. Through this programme we are trying to highlight the role of Red Cross in the lives of common people. Some of the stories that we are carrying include the role of Red Cross in providing safe blood to the Thalassemia patients, help extended to Malaria patients in conflict zones, role of their volunteers in restoring livelihoods etc. It includes an interview of Dr Vanshree Singh, DIrector of Indian Red Cross Society's Health and Volumteer Programme.

In this episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz we are talking about our new initiative with the International Committee of the Red Cross that aims to enhance awareness on humanitarian issues in conflict situations through participatory radio communication. To begin with this new initiative, we are trying to understand the objectives of the Red Cross movements and its journey. Surinder Oberoi, Political and Communication Advisor, International Committee of the Red Cross talks about the role played by ICRC, Indian Red Cross and IFRC during disasters, natural calamities, conflict situations etc. 

Celebrating the lives of humanitarian workers - II (International Red Cross Day) ( Hindi)

This episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz features an interview with Dr S P Agarwal, Secretary General, Indian Red Cross Society where he talks about the kind of works that are being carried out by Red Cross. Indian Red Cross provides relief and rehabilitation to the people affected by earthquake, flood, cloudburst etc. On the occasion of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, Dr S P Agarwal urges people especially youth to come out and take up volunteering activities like blood donation. We also spoke to Surinder Oberoi of International Committee of Red Cross and Red Crescent who traces back the journey of ICRC in India. Oberoi emphasizes on need of respecting Red Cross Emblem.

This episode of Ek Duniya Ek Awaaz (EDAA) celebrates the lives and work of humanitarian workers especially those who work with Red Cross. Broadcast on International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day, the programme deals with the work of Indian Red Cross Society, International Committee of Red Cross and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Society in India and the world. In this programme we spoke to Surinder Oberioi from ICRC who explained the history of ICRC and its focus in India including about its agreement with Government of India that allows agency to inspect Indian jails and meet prisoners in Jammu and Kashmir. In an interview, Dr S P Agarwal, Secretary General, Indian Red Cross Society urged youth to take up volunteering activities and participate actively in blood donation. In his message to the citizens on the occasion of International Red Cross and Red Crescent Day Dr Agarwal emphasized on the need of respecting Red Cross emblem, International Humanitarian Laws (IHL) and congratulated humanitarian workers. We also spoke to the people working with Red Cross who shared their experience of working with Red Cross.
