Radio Luit

<p>Radio Luit endeavors to meet the media need of the large population of students, teachers, karmcharis and their families living in the Gauhati University campus and specifically of the semi-urban community living in the fringe areas around the campus.</p> <p>Radio Luit also aims at establishing a bridge between the University community and the communities around with the help of this vibrant media of Radio.<br />It seeks to create an environment where every member is aware of the social and developmental issues.<br />Radio Luit shall work for betterment of the lives of those marginalized and hitherto neglected by the privileged lot of the society.<br />It shall also aim at creating awareness amongst the University students about the lives of the Communities living in the surrounding areas.</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;">The community of Gauhati University and the communities living around the campus were hitherto neglected by the big media.</p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Besides, there have been frequent conflicts between the University Community and surrounding communities and a Community Radio station was long felt as an appropriate method to bridge the the communities.</p>

Radio Luit @90.8 MHz has been established under Guwahati University (GU) and broadcasts its programmes for 12 hours daily from 8:00 am – 8:00 pm.

Languages of Broadcast: Assamese (90%); Bengali, Hindi, English, Bodo and Nepali (10%)

Anataar Pathdaan Interactive show A half hour syllabus oriented interactiveprogramme where participants are teachers and students of schools, colleges and universities. Morning, noon and evening.
Krishi Katha Interview, talks and discussions A half hour programme involving the villagers, farmers and experts. Noon show.
Kakoli Storytelling, information, participation of children, etc One hour programme with stories, quiz and children’s performance.
Ei Jalukbarir Romeo Juliet Interaction with phone-in participation of listeners Chit-chat with University students covering their emotions, aspirations and highlighting their hidden talents.
Bikhyon Discussions Discussion with teachers, students and community members.

<p>Signature Programme: Mukoli Sora,the open platform, is a signature programme of Radio Luit, which is broadcast live every day from 7 to 8 p.m. Apart from that the Counselling Hour is another significant programme which is broadcast live three days a week from 5-10 pm to 6-00 pm

<p>Human Resource Strategy Radio Luit runs with one full time programme executive and 30 casual radio activists drawn from the University and the fringe community. More emphasis is given to inculcate community based producer/anchor for various programmes. Funding and partnerships: The station is fully supported and funded by the Institute of Distance and Open Learning, Gauhati University Major portion of funding is by IDOL, Gauhati University. However, after having the empanelment by DAVP we have received some advertisements from the DAVP (Ministry of Consumer Affairs).</p>

<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Impact Analysis</strong></p> <p style="text-align: justify;">Radio Luit is planning to conduct a audience survey after completion of its first three months of operation. The enormous response to the live phone-in programme conducted everyday from 6 pm to 7 pm testifies a wide acceptance of the station by the Community.
