Kathodu Kathoram (Phone-in Programme) (Malayalam)
This phone-in programme is an interactive exercise. People from different walks of life speak over the radio. People share information and knowledge on issues that concern them, tell their stories, ask questions and share their problems. Shalini, a young girl who is an eloquent listener of Benziger, says that the radio has potential to become an intimate medium. The pain of loneliness and old age is being shared by Bhargaviamma. Shemy, who survived a suicide attempt, narrates her story explaining how she discovered a reason to live and a reason to hope. All these people find in this programme an opportunity for self expression. It is thrilling to watch how people build bridges across each other through the radio and facilitate the process of community building.
