Mission & Vission

<p>Our aim is to broadcast popular and relevant content to thelocal audience. We aim at providing a platform forenabling individuals, groups and communities to share their ownstories and experiences and become contributors of useful informativeprograms. Our vision is to serve our listeners by offering a variety ofcontent and to spread awareness in the surrounding rural and semiurban community on important relevant issues, like female foeticide,girls&rsquo; education, drug addiction, health care, agriculture, governmenthealth and social schemes for the community and provide informationon career, to just name a few.</p>

Genesis

<p class="content">IIT CR 90.4 startedits journey on 27th Sept. 2010, with the help of faculty members,students of IIT-K and the community in and outside the campus.Initially, our broadcast started with only two hours a day, which later was, extended up to four hours. The programs were based on health, education, agriculture, social and development issues and cultural programs by the community. Now after two years of formal broadcasting, our transmission has gone up to eight hours. Also, a live phone-in facility has been introduced where we invite experts from different fields like health, counseling, career, agriculture,&nbsp; to answer queries and problems of people in and outside the campus.</p>

Thematic Focus

The CRS IIT Kanpur Machao Shor @90.4 MHz broadcasts itsprogrammes for 4 hours daily between 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm and 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Name of the Programme Format Description
Naya Savera Drama, discussions Radio Plays highlighting prominent social issues like dowry, female infanticide, child marriages, domestic violence, etc. are created and recorded by a team of villagers. Discussions are held in nearby villages and awareness is spread. Real success and inspirational stories from villages are shared.
Krishi Charcha Talks, Interviews with Experts Covers several topics like medicinal plants, soil fertility and testing, organic farming, pulses, etc.
Swastha Charcha Talks, Discussions and Interviews Experts are called in and interviewed on issues like TB, AIDS, and Pregnancy related issues, etc. Also, we provide tips on Naturopathy
Sangeet Sargam Music This most appreciated programme taps on local talent and promotes classical music. We also try to promote some of the local artists on bigger platforms like NCPA, Mumbai, and IITK events and conferences
Bikhre Moti Storytelling/ Narration This programme gives voice to the works of some of the famous jewels of Hindi literature like Munshi Premchand and Jayshankar Prasad. Also, several short stories from Jatak Kathayein and Panchtantra are recited dramatically by students. We have also recorded several of the English writers

Programme

<p>Signature Programme: NayaSavera focuses on the overall development in nearby villages through relevant programmes in the field of education, social problems like dowry, girls education, health, drug addiction, and agriculture etc. which are created and recorded by a team of villagers, IIT students and nearby schools. Community Participation: With the help of agricultural expertise available to us at IIT Kanpur and other neighbouring Institutes like Pulses research Institute, The National Sugar Institute, and The Agriculture University we prepare programmes and provide information on agriculture related issues and provide solutions to their problems. Awareness campaigns on education and health are conducted in nearby villages by the radio team, students and residents of the campus. Real success and inspirational stories from villages are also shared and aired. Innovations in Format: Working with physically disabled children, drug addiction, health and hygiene with the help of schools in and outside the campus involving local population.</p>

Impact & Stories

<p>While making radio programes on TB eradication campaign, we came across a TB patient who shared valuable facts that she encountered during the course of her treatment. As she has completely recovered from her illness, this story inspires us as well as the listeners.&nbsp;</p>
