Adivasi and dalit women ( Hindi)

The episode focuses on Adivasi, Dalits and Marginalized Women. Generally, people do not treat them with respect. Dalit/Adivasi women in India live a precarious life combining abject poverty with grinding labor in the field and work places. Back at home, they are powerless, abused and exploited. Every year the parliament proposes budget for the overall development of the country. Against this backdrop, we spoke to Mr. Bijay Kumar from NSA Orissa, Mr. Praveer Peter from GLRF Jharkhand and Mrs. Rajima Tandi, coordinator of Dalit and Adivasi Manch Jharkhand to share their perspectives and views on the plight of women belonging to these excluded communities.

Mrs. Malarkodi, India's 1st Women Lorry driver who was awarded with the title Veeranai Goods,India’s best Women lorry driver and many more to her credits . Malarkodi learned lorry driving from her husband a professional lorry driver in Tiruchengode, (a small village in Namkkal district, Tamilnadu) who travels all 30 days in a month to all parts of India for delivering goods. When her husband met with a serious accident, it was at that moment Malarkodi took lorry driving as her profession and continued to take orders that came for her husband. Then after she continued this profession with fill dedication ignoring all bad and unwanted criticism from her neighbors. Mrs.Malarkodi is an encouraging star for many of her community women.
