1 मई पूरे विश्व भर में लेबर डे के रूप में मनाया जाता है। दुनिया भर के मजदूर इस दिवस को शिकागो में 4 मई 1886 को घटित एक घटना की याद में मनाते है, जिसमे अपने अधिकारों की मांग के लिए प्रदर्शन करते हुए कई मजदूर मारे गए थे। भारत में इसे मद्रास शहर में पहली बार 1923 में मनाया गया।

भारत किसानो और मजदूरों का देश है। ये मेहनतकश तबका पूरे राष्ट्र के निर्माण में अपना योगदान दे रहा है। इस मेहनतकश तबके का हमेशा से ही शोषण और अत्याचार होता रहा है, परन्तु उसकी बेहाली की सुध लेने वाला कोई नहीं है।

कार्यक्रम में दिल्ली श्रमिक संगठन के संयोजक रमेन्दर जी का साक्षात्कार भी प्रस्तुत है। उनका कहना है कि आज के युवाओं को सरकार के ऊपर नीतियों में बदलाव के लिए, और समाज में एक अच्छे वातावरण के निर्माण के लिए अपना योगदान देना चाहिए, ताकि श्रमिक समाज की बेहतरी के लिए प्रयास किया जा सके।

Wealth Human Rights Initiatives have been interviewed. They state that people need to be aware of their rights vis-a-vis the police. This, along with much needed police reforms, can make the system more sensitive and accountable to the people.

पुलिस व्यवस्था देश के प्रशासन का मुख्य भाग है। पुलिस का मतलब है, तुंरत सहायता और राहत। समाज में पुलिस को सुरक्षा की वो जगह माना जाता है, जहाँ पर न्याय मिलता है।

कार्यक्रम में एक महिला राधा के मामले पर प्रकाश डाला गया है। जिसमे उसे झूठे इल्जाम में पुलिस हिरासत में रखकर प्रताडित किया गया। हालाकि समुदाय ने उसका सहयोग देकर उसे छुड़वा लिया।

कार्यक्रम में प्रथम महिला पुलिस अधिकारी, डॉ. किरण बेदी तथा कॉमनवेल्थ ह्यूमन राइट्स इनिशिएटिव्स के संयोजक नवाज़ कोतवाल के साक्षात्कार भी प्रस्तुत है। उनका कहना है कि नागरिकों को पुलिस हिरासत में अपने अधिकारों के बारे में पता होना जरूरी है। ताकि अगर उनके अधिकारों का हनन होता है, तो वे बेझिझक अपनी आवाज़ उठा सकें। उन्होंने कहा कि अगर नागरिक जागरूक होगा और साथ–2 पुलिस व्यवस्था में भी सुधार लाया जाए, तो पुलिस भी सतर्क रहेगी और जनता के अधिकारों का आदर करेगी।
